Why I'm Taking Japanese

Languages are difficult for me. I took French for six years, from sixth grade to eleventh. I wasn't very good and I disliked almost every minute of it. French was boring to me and I didn't even want to learn it. Also, after six years I could talk at the level of a four year old and could hardly conjugate. That's when I decided I would not pursue it in college. When making a language choice this year, I figured that I'd tried the West and it didn't work, so I'd might as well look to the East. That's how I came across Japanese. I've been interested in Japan since middle school. It started when some of my friends loosely referred to themselves as "おたく." I thought they were kind of nerdy but it got me interested, and here I am :-).

I'm with you there - I find languages incredibly difficult to learn, but I'm enjoying Japanese. Keep up the good work! ^____^
